Manage Requirements Across Multiple Projects with objectiF RPM 5.2

Version 5.2 of objectiF RPM – the integrated software solution for requirements engineering and project management – has been released. The Berlin company microTOOL has extended functionality to include cross-project requirements and resource management. It is now possible to derive requirements from packages in other projects. The derived requirements can then easily be added to diagrams with drag and drop. It is also now possible to see across multiple projects which employees are planned for which projects, with their activities and availabilities. Temporal relationships between parallel projects can be visualized in a single Gantt chart for multi-project management. In addition, it is possible to execute searches across all projects. A new view “Activities with Costs” makes it possible to consider planned and actual costs over freely definable time periods. Another new feature are hierarchical queries for displaying dependencies and pre-existing relationships between elements across several folder levels. For example, for requirements it is possible to use a query to display all derivations, refinements, test cases, and more. This guarantees complete traceability over the entire life cycle. In order to simplify context menus for individual users, functional scopes have been developed. It is possible to manage user permissions while selecting individual functions.

In addition to the Kanban board for activities, there is now a Kanban board for all stereotypes. You can now display user stories, test cases, goals and more on a virtual board, making changes in statuses visible for all team members. Tasks move from left to right through phases of the workflow (for example, from defined, to in progress, and completed). Work in progress (WIP) limits can be defined in order to limit the number of tasks a team is allowed to work on per workflow phase. This ensures that bottlenecks can be quickly detected and rectified, as part of a continuous process of improvement (Kaizen). Kanban is thus a method to increase production flow. In addition to Kanban boards, in objectiF RPM you can create custom dashboards that display various KPIs. A cumulative flow diagram, for example, delivers real-time information on team efficiency and the stability of the workflow.

objectiF RPM offers requirements engineering and management, agile, classic and hybrid project management, as well as system design, development and testing all in one package. The entire application lifecycle can be modeled and managed with total version control. objectiF RPM covers both requirements engineering according to IREB and business analysis according to BABOK. The application is scalable, holistic, customizable and extendable, and can be run on-site or in the cloud.
