New Version of in-STEP RED Released

microTOOL GmbH released version 2.1 of in-STEP RED. The software offers support for requirements elicitation, specification, modelling and management as well as project planning including the definition of tests. The entire requirements management life cycle can be secured with it. One solution enables collaboration of requirements engineers, business analysts, system architects, project members and testers via client/server connection or web client. The new version is available in German and English and offers various new functions and improvements.

Usability has been improved in many ways. A new full-text-search supports searching for information that has already been saved. A project guideline with internal and external links to project elements facilitates starting off a new project for users. Tooltips provide further information on product states and on projects. The display of the earned-value-analysis has been optimized, the import of Excel-files and the export of Word-files have been upgraded and reports, views and charts can now be added to the menu simply by drag & drop.

The in-STEP RED web client can be accessed via Google Chrome and additionally via Apple Safari 8.0. User administration is now also possible via web client. Team members can be added, edited and assigned to staff pools. The Use Case 2.0 methodology has been fully realized for the web client version. The web client now also offers slicing use cases into smaller, so-called “use case slices”. A “slicing pane“ shows all the use case stories of a use case, enables cutting them into slices and adding the slices to the product and sprint backlog for project planning. in-STEP RED supports the agile approach Scrum not only with requirements being defined as user stories but also as use cases.
