The Japanese Word Kanban is a compound of kan = signal and ban = card and therefore means signal card. Kanban was first described as a technology by Toyota production manager Taiichi Ohno in 1978 in a book on the Toyota Production System (TPS). Kanban is part of the just-in-time principle, which means that only what is actually needed to fill customer orders is produced. Information about what is to be produced and in what quantity is passed from the downstream area to the upstream area by means of a so-called kanban card.

Create Tasks

WIP Limit
The template keeps you in control of your tasks thanks to the work-in-progress (WIP) limit. In our example, the WIP limit is fixed: Only three tasks can be in progress at the same time, to avoid overload and maintain focus.
You can set individual WIP limits for different teams and statuses to make the most of each process step and avoid task backlogs. This feature helps teams flexibly adapt to changing needs and efficiently redistribute tasks based on capacity and employee skills.
